A team of the Electric Power Conversion system (EPC) Lab of Department of Electrical Electronic Engineering in Okayama University won the tournament among 29 universities and companies at the “Wireless Power Transferred MINI 4WD Speed Race”. Technical committee in the Institute for Electronics, Information, and Communication Engineers (IEICE) on Wireless Power Transfer organized the competition at Kanazawa University on September 12. The races were undertaken on 4 meters plastic course run by MINI 4WD whose power was supplied by wireless power transfer devices. The EPC team implemented a widely used resonant inductive coupling technique in their MINI 4WD. “We had many troubles, but we got over them.”, said the project leader Kota Shimomura.
